The song was included on the group's first Japanese repackage album Girls' Generation: The Boys on December 28, 2011.

The first teaser video for "Time Machine" was released on February 24, 2012^[1] while the second teaser was released on March 11, 2012^[2] and the music video was released on March 13, 2012.^[3] The music video was filmed in HD.

   

The music video was released on March 13, 2012. It starts with a phone ringing, and then shows the nine members in different places, such as Taeyeon under a trellis of roses, Yoona in a wedding dress walking through the streets while it snows, Sunny standing in the rain, Tiffany walking outside with an umbrella, Hyoyeon leaning against a wall, Sooyoung sitting alone in a hotel room with a ringing phone, Yuri on her bed with her iPhone, Seohyun in her bathroom looking at a photograph and Jessica sitting in a car. After the title of the song appears, the song starts. At the chorus, the nine members appear together in a room full of clocks of different sizes, as well as close-ups of members' faces. The video ends with Yoona smiling and running towards the camera.
